Unemployment in Portugal stabilizes at 14% in August – Business Journal – Portugal

Eurostat estimates show that it is the fifth highest rate in the 28 countries considered. On a monthly basis the rate stabilized at 14%. Already, year on year, Portugal was the second country with a more pronounced rate of decline in the European Union.

The unemployment rate in Portugal stood at 14% in August, which was identical to the previous month, Eurostat estimates reveal, disclosed this Tuesday, September 30th.

Unemployment falls in 22 countries

In the Euro area, the unemployment rate adjusted for seasonal factors was 11.5% in August, which also represents a stagnation from the previous month and a decline YoY.

Since the European Union as a whole reached a rate of 10.1%, the lowest since February 2012.

The unemployment rate fell in twenty-two Member States, increased four and stabilized in both countries.

Austria (4.7%) and Germany (4.9%) have the lowest rates of unemployment.
