Unemployment. Total couples jobless back to cycle … – iOnline

At the end of August there were 11 939 couples in Portugal where both members, married or unmarried, had no jobs, an increase of 3.9% over the total number of couples in this situation that existed at the end of July , or over 445 couples. August was thus the second consecutive rise in the total unemployed couple months after July total to have grown 0.1%, breaking a cycle of five consecutive months of recovery.

Despite the upward trend in monthly terms, it is certain that the declines recorded between February and June 2014 to allow comparison to the same months of 2013 remains positive. The 11 939 registered unemployed couples IEFP the end of August this year represent less 4.4% of couples in these conditions than in August 2013

“The number of couples in which both spouses are registered was unemployed at the end of August 2014, 11 939, -4.4% (-552 couples) than in the same month and 3.9% (+445 couples) in the previous month, “the IEFP in your monthly newsletter, where he still realizes that the monthly increase in unemployment in August was extended to all civil states. Late last month there were 3% more single unemployed compared to July (for a total of 223 800), plus 1.9% of divorced (62 300) plus 0.5% widowed (10 thousand). “The registered unemployment in Job Centres of the continent declined 10.6% YoY and grew 2.1% in the previous month.” In total, at the end of August, there were over 12 500 unemployed registered at employment centers than in July.

The overall unemployment continues to compare positively with months of 2013, but we note again a contribution of seasonality to the official figures of unemployment – the most significant annual decline in regional terms was felt in the Algarve where unemployment has fallen 19.5% over the same month last year.

It has been standard since 2011 register an increase in unemployment in the run each year, with 2014 promising not escape the rule: despite the continuing positive homologous compared on a monthly basis in August was already rising registered unemployment in the Employment Institute, which increasingly threatens return to the levels of 2012, after having fallen below the numbers of the year last May.
