The car production rose 6.7% in Portugal in the first nine months of 2014 compared to the same period last year, revealed the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP).

In total, 125 352 vehicles between January and September were produced, of which 90,645 units were light Passenger. Of the total production, 96.6% went for export (121 135 units), up 5.3% compared to vehicles exported in the same period last year. China and Germany were the main destinations of sales, where, respectively, were 21.6% and 16% of production in Portugal. France to 13.3% of the cars were manufactured, while for the UK were 10.1%. “The increase in the total number of vehicles manufactured in Portugal in September 2014 was determined by the growth in production of all types of motor vehicles,” said the association. VW Autoeuropa continues to dominate production in Portugal.
