Maria Luís Albuquerque notes that the New Bank is a bridge bank and therefore has a maximum duration of two years. This does not mean that it will sell the “slashing”.

“No one ever said that the bank would be sold in a hurry or on the cheap but in the shortest possible time,” said today the Minister of Finance, confronted with the recent statements of the Prime Minister on the sale of New Bank.

Passos Coelho said there is no rush but noted that “not having a reference shareholder, a brand that can defend, obviously the more spend more time risks may be faced. “

Quick Sale, today explained Maria Luís Albuquerque in the budget and finance committee,” means we can not be thinking of revitalization plans for five or six years because there this is the frame. ” Vítor Bento, the former leader of the New Bank wanted to outline a medium-term strategic plan for the institution.

The minister reminded today that the bridge bank, by definition, has two years of validity and that, as for sale, “it is up to the Bank of Portugal lead this process.”
