And if the Portuguese shoes to turn into book? This was the challenge that the Portuguese Footwear Industry Association (APICCAPS) took the form of the album “English Soul”, which shows the world as the row has become in recent years a “success story”, supported by a communication campaign and image positioning in foreign markets which helped to increase exports in the sector by 50% since 2009

It is a work that brings together fashion editorials published in the last six years and helps explain how the line closed in 2013 the export of € 1.7 billion, the second highest average price of footwear in the world, at 23.45 euros, waiting to hit another record in exports at the end of the year, after growth of 9% recorded between January and September

.

Translated into numbers, the investment made in shares of overseas promotion, a package that combines the presence of Portuguese companies in international fairs and image campaigns, totals EUR 55 million in the reporting period (since 2009 ).

The selling over 95% of its production to 150 countries, accounting for 2% of world exports of sector, the footwear industry also won a place in the “Road Map for a Dynamic Economy” of the Presidency, that Friday dedicated a day to honor the footwear with Cavaco Silva visits to four reference companies and the Center Footwear Technology, with stops in Gaia, Guimarães, Felgueiras and S. João da Madeira

” It is an opportunity to highlight investments in innovation and internationalization, which made the Portuguese industry one of the most modern in the world, and anticipate future projects, at a time when the industry launched a new strategic plan to run until 2020, “explains the direction of APICCAPS, assuming the ambition to “make the Portuguese footwear industry the major international reference sector”
