The Portuguese Confederation of Construction and Real Estate (CPCI) complained on Friday continued visa program gold , claiming that no other program has been able to achieve such impressive results in terms of investment abroad.

Recalling the results obtained, namely EUR 1 076 million in foreign investment picked up, of which 972 correspond to the acquisition of national real estate, the CPCI says in a statement that “the program can not be challenged by issues of a judicial nature, which must be fully and quickly resolved by the courts. “

In a statement to the press, the CPCI said that the program can not be called into question” by disputes of a political nature, since it is a program with effect proven positive, which exists in many other countries and that has to be defended, under penalty of losing investors to other destinations that are in direct competition with Portugal in terms of attracting investment. “

The confederation highlights that “countries like Spain, Greece, Malta, Latvia, UK, Ireland, Cyprus or Switzerland have similar programs, with minimal investment requirements from 250 000 euros, so expect an official position on the part of all political actors in order to ensure the necessary climate of stability and confidence, which is essential for the realization of investments that generate jobs and boosts economic activity. “

The position of the construction industry and real estate happens as a result of the investigation into how the visas have been allocated gold , which resulted in the arrest of 11 people, among which are the Director of the Aliens and Borders and the president of the Institute of Registration and Notaries, and three Chinese. The detainees are suspected of corruption and are present on Friday afternoon before a judge.

The first reactions of the opposition parties will be REQUIRED in order to operate a program change, channeling them into investments productive, with job creation. So far, only three cases, a universe of permits granted in 1775, involved the creation of employment, which must be at least ten jobs.
