The Regional Government of Madeira advanced to the direct sale of the entire Schedule of Funchal, the company that operates a public service network of urban and local transport by bus in the municipality of Funchal.

According to regional regulatory decree published today in the Official Gazette, the sale will take place in two phases, lifting and other potential bidders to submit binding bids in envelope closed. The schedule for the two phases is yet to be determined by the Regional Government.

The decision of the Executive chaired by Alberto João Jardim by direct sales (had at its disposal the terms of the tender and tender offer) is justified by “regional interest” and it is a more “speedy and simple ‘model taking into account the need for standardization of finance in the region.

Moreover, the Government considers that there is already a” restricted list entities able to carry successfully the operation of a system of urban transport and place in the Region. “

The choice of candidate will be determined by the financial outlay for the government of the region, minimizing conflicts interest in the sale and quality, knowledge, experience in urban transport and intercity passenger, suitability and financial capacity.

The Times of Funchal, owned 95% by the Autonomous Region of Madeira and 5% by the Electricity Company of Madeira, still controls the Company of Cars São Gonçalo, which connects the city of Funchal and other parishes in the region dedicated to the rental of buses.

According to its website, the company has over 500 employees, operates in over 75 careers 430 kilometers and has a total fleet of about 270 buses.
