Credit bad debt of companies and households increased – Daily News – Lisbon

According to the Bank of Portugal (BoP) in December 2014 total of 123,933 million euros that banks lent to families, 5.420 million were overdue loans, ie 4.37% of total loans were considered bad debts.

This is an increase of bad face to 2013, when the overdue loans represented 3.98% (5.101 million) of the total of 128 115 million granted by banks to families.

Between 2013 and 2014, there was an increase of bad loans in housing and other purposes granted to households, and the doubtful loans decreased in the case of consumer loans (11 ., 77% to 10.32%)

In 2013, the bad debt in housing accounted for 2.27% (2,398 million) of the total of 105,775 million euros granted; last year increased to 2.52% (2,563 million) compared to total 101,896 million euros borrowed.

Also the credit for ‘other purposes’ there is an increase in bad debt, which in December 2014 is 16.18% (1,607 million) of the total of 9,931 million euros borrowed last year, when in 2013 meant 12.63% (1,296 million) of the total 10,265 million in loans.
