The new note 20 euros was presented today by President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, in Frankfurt. The central banks of the euro area will put into circulation 4.3 million of these notes not only in Europe but also in the world, from November 25.

In a press conference, Mario Draghi, said “The notes that we use every day are the most tangible symbols of the European Union”. He adds that the new note “is a reminder that this integration continues.”

The creation of the new note was justified by the need to use new technologies to “maintain the integrity” of money, ie, hinder its counterfeit. In this sense, the new note contains four main security features: a “window with portrait” hologram portrait, emerald number and watermark with portrait. According to Mario Draghi, President of the ECB, the note of 20 euros is the first to include the “window with portrait”, which is “a true innovation in banking technology.” Putting the note backlit, there is the mythological figure “Europe” in the window
