António Costa will be received by Pope Francisco – Destak

António Costa includes a delegation of leaders of Cities Network Magalhânicas, together with the President of the Chamber of Municpal Sabrosa, Jose Marques, the Mayor of Seville, Juan Alvarez and the Mayor of Punta Arenas, Chile, Emilio Campos.

The Mayor will next Wednesday, March 25, early in the morning by 9:00 a.m., an audience at the Vatican with Pope Francisco.

The World Network of Cities Magalhânicas was formed on February 1, 2013 in the city of Seville.

It is an associative nature entity, nonprofit and transnational character, whose main objective is to celebrate the 5th Centenary of the First World Adventures implemented by the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan (1519-1522) and provide visibility this milestone History worldwide in the period between 2019 and 2022.

The general objectives of this worldwide network to promote and carry out acts and events in order to study, dissemination and exploitation of the First Travel circum- navigation; coordinate all initiatives and contributions to the celebration of the fifth centenary of the trip; . promote knowledge and cultural exchange, socio-economic, scientific, technological and tourism being the different cities and towns of the Network

The World Network of Cities Magalhânicas consists of 12 cities: Lisbon and Sabrosa (Portugal ); Seville and Granadilla de Abona (Spain); Ushuaia, Puerto San Julián, Montevideo and Puerto de Santa Cruz (Argentina); Punta Arenas and Porvenir (Chile); Cebu (Philippines); Praia (Cape Verde).
