Helena Borges is next Director General of the Tax Authority – publico

                 


                         
                     

                 

 
                         

The current director of the Directorate of Finance of Lisbon, Helena Borges, is the next Director General of the Treasury, the Government announced in Parliament.


                     


                         “I would like to announce that Dr. Helena Borges, current director of the Directorate of Finance of Lisbon, will take over as managing director of the Tax Authority and Customs as of Monday,” said Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs, Paul Nuncio, in his opening speech in the Committee of Budget, Finance and Public Administration, which is being heard concerning the alleged VIP list of contributors.

Before the resignation of the Director General and deputy director-general of the Treasury, the Government may appoint a person to replace to take the lead of the institution, according to the law.

The law 64/2011, amending the recruitment and selection procedures and provision in top management positions of Public Administration, states that “the replacement ends on the date on which the holder takes over functions or within 90 days from the date of the vacancy of the seat, unless it is ongoing proceedings aiming at designating new owner” .
