Galp will double crude production – News Minute to

The new chief executive of Galp, Carlos Gomes Silva, said today that the Portuguese oil company will “double oil production next year and a half” due to start more platforms in Brazil.

Gomes da Silva, who was speaking to journalists on the results of the first quarter of the company, said that wants to reach mid 2017 with double the current production, which is 41,500 barrels per day.

To achieve this goal, Galp has two FSPO (ship oil platform) to produce at full capacity (City Angra dos Reis and Cidade de Paraty), two running according to the estimated plan (City of Mangalore and City of Itaguaí), and two more (City of Marica and City Sacorema) will begin work next year, all in Brazil.

The head of the Portuguese oil company also pointed out that, although be minor changes to the Board of Directors, “Galp’s strategy is sufficiently sufragada and will be built step by step” when asked if he would submit a new business plan.

The net result of Galp Energia reached the EUR 121 million in the first quarter of this year, compared with 47 million in the same period 2014.

In terms of turnover, there was a decrease of 5% over the same period 2014 , standing at 3,923 million euros, “which was mainly due to the decline in oil prices, natural gas and petroleum products in the international market,” according to a statement sent by Galp to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) .
