DECO receives an average of 96 requests for help every day, related to situations of over-indebtedness. In the first six months were submitted 17,230 applications for aid for consumer protection association, newspaper Jornal de Noticias.
The unemployed continue to represent the largest share of families struggling to make ends meet. Retirees aid applications already total 16%.
Of the more than 17,000 requests for help, DECO opened 1,241 cases. Of cases opened earlier this year it was possible to restructure 72% of contracts and 15% of defaults.
Each over-indebted has an average of four credits. Lower income accounted for by the association is 50 euros.
