ECB back to increase emergency liquidity to Greek banks – TVI24

The European Central Bank have decided to increase by 900 million euros the maximum amount of emergency lending to Greek banks, advances to Bloomberg citing source close to the process.

Last week the ECB had increased the emergency line to Greek banks, also for EUR 900 million, when the central bank asked 1,500 million euros.

At the outset, it is still not enough to lift the capital controls, but will allow the Greek banking a relief.

The difficulties have been increasing since December, when early elections were called because of the escape of deposits, and the disbelief of investors and depositors since the crisis with European partners.

The decision was was taken by the board of governors of the ECB, which thus increases its margin to continue to help banks.
