CaixaBank will leave the BPI – TVI24

The CaixaBank shall leave the BPI in the coming months. At issue is the sale of the 44.1% that the Spanish bank has in the Portuguese bank, and that will get you to the hand of Chinese investors, according to El Confidencial.

In mid-February, the CaixaBank announced a takeover bid for the institution led by Fernando Ulrich. But the offer was withdrawn in June because the Spanish bank failed to deshielded bank statutes.

While holding more than 44% of the shares of BPI, the statutes of the Portuguese bank indicate that the Catalans had only 20 percent of the voting rights in the general meeting of shareholders.

The CaixaBank said at the time it would start “from this moment una analysis phase of strategic alternatives available regarding their participation in BPI, taking into account the objectives of its Strategic Plan 2015-2018″.

The shares of BPI already fired about 6% in the Lisbon Stock Exchange in reaction to the news.
