Greek government eases capital control measures – Daily News – Lisbon

The Greek Government changed the rules of capital controls in effect since June 29, now can citizens transfer up to 500 euros a month out of the country.

The news is being advanced by Edition ‘online’ the Kathimerini Greek newspaper reports that the executive published on Monday evening seven changes to the restrictions imposed on the movement of capital in Greece.

According to the law, citizens can now make international transfers of up to 500 euros per month and families with children studying abroad may also send up to 8,000 euros to cover the respective education expenses (the previous limit was 5,000 euros).

In that the Greeks can now open bank accounts, which also was not possible since the end of June, but only to pay bills or loans. However, will not be able to raise money from these accounts.

June 29 published a decree determined that banks in Greece remain closed until July 6, the day after the referendum on the bailout program . However, banks only open again on 20 July.
