After the last month of December to ATM network has reached a record number of operations, it is now the turn of July hit this value, reaching 210 million transactions. This number represents an increase of 5% in relation to the December, or over ten million operations. Compared to July last year, there was an increase of about 6% of transactions conducted in this way.

In addition to the growth in the total transactions via ATM, also the amount of processed purchases reached a new record of around 79 million operations. What shows an increase of 3% compared to the figures of December and over the same period last year, a jump of 13%.

In 2014, the ATM network has seen the number of operations increased about 4% and the amount of money involved in the transactions to grow by almost 8%.

Since 2011 we have seen a decrease in the number of ATMs in the country, from 14,126 to 12,519 at the end of June this year (-11.4%). In the case of payment terminals (POS, Point of Sale ), was 259,540 in June 2014, rising to 276,765 in June this year.

SIBS, which manages the ATM network, does not advance any explanation for this record, even if the data presented now have a match in increasing the value of transactions. It is known, however, that there is a trend towards greater dematerialization (with less use of cash), the ATM network may also be benefiting from a rise in the number of tourists, and some streamlining of the domestic consumption.
