Portugal with light and more expensive gas the European Union – Journal News

Portugal had the second half of 2015 electricity and gas to more expensive domestic EU expressed in standard purchasing power parity, announces Eurostat.

According to the official office of EU statistics Eurostat, in Portugal, the electricity cost in the second half of last year, 29.3 PPS (artificial currency that eliminates the differences in price levels between countries) per 100 kWh (kilowatt hour) and gas 12 6 PPS.

Between June and December 2015, the price of the price of domestic electricity in the EU was 21.1 PPS per 100 kWh and the euro area 21.6 PPS, while the gas was 7.1 PPS per 100 kWh in the EU and 7.5 PPS in the euro area.

in addition to Portugal (29.3 PPS per 100 kWh), Germany (28.3), Spain and Romania (26.5 each) electricity for household use had higher prices compared to other goods and services, while Finland (12.3 PPS per 100 kWh), Sweden (14.6), Luxembourg ( 14.7) and France (15.2) had the lowest prices.

with regard to gas, given the cost of other goods and services, lower prices were recorded in Luxembourg ( 4.0 kWh per 100 PPS), UK (5.1), Belgium (5.6) and Denmark (5.7), while higher were observed in Portugal (12.6), Spain (10.4 ), Greece and Sweden (9.2 each), Czech Republic (9.1) and Italy (9.0).

the weight of taxes and fees in the price of domestic electricity in Portugal is the third most of the EU (50%), after Denmark (69%) and Germany (52%), and above the European average of 33%, while in gas taxes and fees are 23% on average in the EU.

the average price of electricity rose 2.4% in the second half of 2015 compared to 2014 to 22.4 euro per 100 kWh, while the gas down 5.5% to 9.8 kWh.

in the EU, the average price of electricity rose year on year, 2.4% and 1.3% in the euro area, to 21.1 and 22.1 euro per 100 kWh, respectively, while the gas decreased by 1.7% in the EU to 7.1 euros and 3.4% in the euro area to 7.6 euro per 100 kWh.
