Social Security benefits without leaves almost 377,000 unemployed – publico


 
         
                 

                         
                     


                         

                 

 
 

The Portuguese State allocated close to 233,000 unemployment benefits in May, leaving without these supports almost 377,000 unemployed. Calculations are the Lusa agency, which is based on the latest official data available from Social Security.

In May there were 232,838 recipients of unemployment benefits, less 9331 people than in April and the equivalent of 38% of last total number of unemployed recorded by the National Statistics Institute (provisional estimates April).

the latest data released by INE, for April, accounted for a total of 609,800 unemployed, with the rate of unemployment standing at 12% (unchanged from March).

of the benefits accounted for by Social Security, 115,251 relate to women and the remaining 117,587 relate to men.

the social Security numbers include unemployment benefits, initial unemployment social allowance, social allowance and subsequent unemployment extension of unemployment assistance, benefits which reached in May the average value of 449.14 euros, compared to 450.47 euros in the previous month.

the highest number of unemployment benefit recipients was reached in the first four months of 2013, coinciding with the highest unemployment rates ever recorded in Portugal.
