Violas questions the reasons of the postponement of the AG of the BIS – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

The general assembly of the BPI of the sale of the control of BFA to Unitel of Isabel dos Santos has been postponed to December 13. The request was made by the CaixaBank to the standby position of the European Central Bank (ECB) on the operation.

Tiago Violas Ferreira, a shareholder of BPI through the Violas Ferreira Finance, which holds 2,681% of the capital of the Portuguese bank, questions the veracity of the presented argument to postpone the sale of 2% of the BFA to Unitel.

“Can be, and is even quite likely, that the real reason for the postponement of this AG to the next day 13 December 2016 is waiting for confirmation of payment of these amounts to the BIS.” Tiago Violas Ferreira

And explains, in an opinion article in the Business, because doubts: “when questioned about the doubts of CaixaBank and what would happen in the case of a negative response from the ECB, the president of the executive committee hastened to say that in all the contacts held between the BIS and the ECB, they guaranteed that this format responds to all your demands, although there is still a confirmation in formal writing, the awaited.”

And says have returned to read the letter that the BPI sent to Unitel the 20 September, having noted that, in this missive, the sale of 2% of the BFA became dependent upon the payment to the BIS, “until the day 9 of December,” 66 million of dividends in 2014 and 2015, more than $ 30 million of the last tranche of the initial sale of 2008.

“you Can be, and it is even quite likely, that the real reason for the postponement of this AG to the next day 13 December 2016 is waiting for confirmation of payment of these amounts to the BIS,” adds the Violas in the article.

The person responsible asks for the intervention of the authorities, considering that the whole situation is opaque, and that clarity is needed.

This request comes up after you leave some questions. “What will happen if the National Bank of Angola does not give the necessary permission and the required output of around 100 million euros in Angola and these do not go into the coffers of the BPI until the day 9 of December of 2016?”

“May the CaixaBank fails then this business general assembly?” This at a time when the BPI is pressed by the ECB to complete this operation, at the same time that the CaixaBank already has the voting power necessary to approve and stopping measures, after you have been approved, without the opposition of Unitel, the desblindagem of the statute of the bank.

“Is that the unexplained line of credit that CaixaBank has granted to the Republic of Angola for 400 million euros in August may finally have to here your explanation?”
