Lagarde has been condemned in the “case Tapie”

Christine Lagarde, the current director-general of the IMF, was found guilty of “serious negligence” by the French court, in a case of embezzlement of public money, but you don’t have to meet any penalty.

The court held that Lagarde acted negligently when he was Economy minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, during the process of state compensation for the sale of Adidas to a public bank, by resorting to arbitration, which will have benefited Bernard Tapie, instead of leaving the regular court work.

By a decision in the arbitration, the State had to pay compensation to the businessman close to Sarkozy, at 404 million euros, with the argument that Crédit Lyonnais had achieved a profit exaggerated thanks to Adidas.

The current director-general of the IMF has always said to be innocent and the Prosecutor asked for the acquittal. This Monday, Lagarde was not moved to the court to hear the sentence, whose worth could mean the fulfillment of up to one year in jail and the payment of 15 thousand euros compensation.
