Strikes at airports desconvocadas – TVI24

The strikes of the workers of the ‘handling‘ (ground handling) and airport security will be desconvocadas, reported today to the Lusa the Workers Union Aviation and Airports (Sitava).

The desconvocação of the strikes, which began already on Tuesday and lasting until Friday, was today passed in the plenary session of the workers, after they have been made aware of the commitments made by the Government last week.

The Sitava and the Government were meeting on Friday in a long marathon negotiations on the claims of the workers ‘handling’ and security on the airports.

according To the coordinator of the Sitava, Fernando Henriques, were undertaken by the Government, represented by the secretary of State of Infrastructure, Guilherme W. d’oliveira Martins, “a set of commitments that will be made known to the media, in a press conference this afternoon.

On the table were the claims of workers of the enterprises ‘handling’ Groundforce and Portway, who object to the licensing, claiming to be illegal, the Groundlink and Ryanair, but also to the claims of the workers of the security companies, Prosegur and Securitas, in the negotiations for a new Collective bargaining Agreement with the Association of Security Companies.

The strike by employees of Prosegur and Securitas was convened for 27, 28 and 29 December, and the workers of Groundforce and Portway for 28, 29 and 30 December.

Already in the press conference, a few hours later, the Sitava reported that, despite having been desconvocadas the strikes, will be marked plenary of workers to assess whether the commitments made by the Government were complied with.

Fernando Henriques, coordinator of the Sitava, explained that both the workers ‘handling’ as security “understood that were the conditions to which these strikes were desconvocadas,” but added that “it will be marked plenary session to the end of the month of January” to “assess at what point that will be each of the situations.”

“we Were with the spirit of the proposal, and the resolution of the problems. (…) But, of course, we will be vigilant that these commitments become a reality”

In question is the creation of working conditions, having the trade unionist said that there is the Government’s commitment of “until the end of January to be solved the problems of changing rooms, rest rooms and parking lots for cars in the zones in which there are no public transport services”.

in addition, they were also set to resume talks “with a view to the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement with the mediation of both the Ministry of Labour, as the relevant ministry, in this case, the Planning”.

Underlining that, in the case of the assistance on earth, “the commitments are much more in the hand of the Government than other strikes”, because that is in the process for the State to recover the majority of the capital of TAP, Fernando Henriques explained that “the Government’s commitment to the ‘handling’ is that, as early as the Government get back in control shareholder of the firm, the contract with the Groundforce will be renewed”.

“This is a guarantee fund that gives workers the prospects of continuity”, argued the union leader, adding that there is still “to guarantee that the process of assignment of licenses of contests that is going on will be done in a transparent way”.

in relation to the Portway, “a company with numerous illegalities” and that “there is a persecution of the members of the Sitava and to workers not unionized”, Fernando Henriques said that “it was the commitment to carry out an immediate inspection/audit by the Authority for Labour Conditions”.

The unionist also gave account of the other two commitments that were assumed: on the one hand, the publication of “on the 29th of December”, of the collective bargaining agreement of the sector, the recently signed with the employers ‘ association of the services ‘handling’ and, on the other, the publication “during the month of January,” the ordinance of extension in which they will be regulated the working conditions.

These were the commitments made, according to Fernando Henriques, on Friday, in a long marathon negotiating session between the Sitava and the Government, relative to the claims of the workers ‘handling’ and security on the airports.
